About - The Osteobridge® system

This modular diaphyseal endoprosthesis can be used for the long term stabilization of segmental bone defects and bone resections in the humerus, femur and tibia.
It was developed by Merete Medical, a German medical technology Company who specialize in the manufacture of implants & instruments for endoprosthetics & osteosynthesis & is distributed by WG Healthcare in the UK.

The Osteobridge® Diaphysis replacement consists of two semicircular shells, which are mounted on two press fit intramedullary nails that have screws for anti-rotation.

The major forces are borne at the spacer-bone-nail junction to minimize stress on the locking screws & increase long term stability. The nails are inserted on specially designed jigs that allow targeted insertion of the locking screws. The hollow spacer is designed so as to be used as a drug carrier or can contain bone graft or substitutes. The Osteobridge® system is made from titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V.
