WG Healthcare Support Local and International Schools
WG partnered with St Mary's Infants School in the nearby Town of Baldock to raise £2000 for the Albaraca School in Gambia. Mark Goddard reached out to St Mary's, after WG had raised money for the Albaraca school last year by completing the 3 peaks walk in Yorkshire, to see if they would like to get involved in working with WG to raise more much needed funds for the Gambian school.
The children and staff at St Mary's undertook lots of fundraising activities & made donations over the past school year and also learnt all about what it is like to live and go to school in Africa. Their fundraising activities raised a huge £1000 which WG Healthcare matched with £1000 of their own.

The Trustees of the Albaraca school visited St Mary's to pick up their cheques from the school and from WG and told the children that the money would go to providing mosquito nets that prevent Malaria and to help re build the roof of part of the school.
Mark commented that 'The children at St Mary's are, on the whole, from backgrounds where their families don't have much spare income, but they still all got involved and donated their pennies to the Gambian children, it's a lesson that we could all learn. I also know that the pupils at St Mary's have learnt a lot about how children in other countries live, so bringing these two schools together has meant that both have benefitted from the experience, we are really pleased to have helped'.
The Company has also provided charitable support of the Cure International Children's Hospital in Malawi and is set to lead a group of surgeons in September to undertake paediatric orthopaedic surgery and help train local HCP's.
